Nomad Pizza

Wood-fired brick oven imported from Italy takes center stage at this small eatery in historic Hopewell. Boasting around 12 indoor tables and more outdoors, the restaurant feels cozy. Organic pizzas feature ingredients sourced directly from nearby farms as well as basil grown on-site; food is delicious while service is friendly; prices don’t break the bank either!

Nomad Pizza Company was launched by Tom Grim and Stalin Bedon as a pizza truck, quickly garnering great demand for their Neapolitan-style pies and opening their first restaurant in Hopewell Borough. Shortly thereafter they added two locations in Philadelphia as well as this location at Princeton Shopping Center with plenty of indoor seating as well as an inviting patio, perfect for casual dating occasions. Their delicious Neapolitan-style pies feature delicious crusts that are neither too hard nor soft; in addition there are 16 pizza options on their menu, including Trenton tomato pie that takes four days to craft; seasonal salads as well as pasta dishes are offered throughout.

Nomad was created from a former Amoco gas station that sat vacant for years, until Elrath Construction collaborated with JZA+D (exterior), Steven Cohen of Princeton NJ AIA and Groundswell Design Group to transform it into an eatery that celebrates both its history and modern amenities. The design was inspired by its original service station origins with custom finishes blending industrial with rustic aesthetics – leaving brick walls intact while completely renovating exterior by adding manual roll-up garage doors and an awning overhang.

A large, open dining area features reclaimed wood from an old gas station and an accent wall decorated with an image of the 1949 REO Speed Wagon that the founders used to launch their business. It also pays homage to their roots in a historic town. Since opening, lines have formed at their door each night and patrons love this new space!

Last week I came here for dinner with a friend and it was absolutely outstanding. Both the food and patio stood out to me; patio furniture is super comfortable, providing ample spaces to sit or stand while eating or drinking. We ordered the margarita pizza which was really satisfying with crisp crusts and plenty of cheese – I will certainly return!
