Ernest Erber was an esteemed local plumber and committed community member. He was actively engaged with numerous civic and professional groups and organizations, including founding membership in the New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Planners where he served on its board; additionally he completed various municipal planning projects such as master plans, city development regulations, township zoning ordinances and land use studies as well as creating the Urban Problems Luncheon Group which provided a forum to discuss urban issues.
He was an instrument rated pilot who flew various aircraft for many years. He is survived by Gloria; their daughter Daina Barry and son Jason Fey; Denise Siekmann and Linda Geran as well as other loved ones who will miss him deeply. He will always remain remembered with love.
Ernest is also a certified mediator and arbitrator, lecturing to public groups as well as lawyers on alternative dispute resolution matters. His articles have appeared in publications like the New Jersey Law Journal and American Bar Association’s Annual Review of Alternative Dispute Resolution. Furthermore, Ernest enjoys golfing and flying.

Ernest Gilbert of Pennsauken, NJ passed away peacefully on November 7, 2020 after 92 years. Born in Baltimore Maryland to Albert and Ethel Gilbert, Ernest attended Dorsey High School before earning both his BS from Hampton University and master’s from Beaver College. For 40 years he taught at JFK High School in Willingboro NJ as well as various schools around New Jersey – volunteering for numerous community organizations while being an avid football fanatic! Ernest is survived by two of his sons Michael and Kirk along with three grandchildren Eric Danielle Ariana as well as large extended family. We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to Virtua Lady of Lourdes Hospital staff for providing such exceptional care services!
