Jarrod started by cutting a hole larger than his planter box in its center, filling it with crushed glass to hold soil and prevent excess water from spilling onto wood surfaces. Building the table was done largely impromptu, using his experience navigating standard lumber sizes in the lumber aisle. After drawing pencil lines of where he wanted to cut, then using a jigsaw for construction, he used palm sandering for smoothness before staining and staining his wood; finally drilling holes at various spots along its perimeter in order to allow drainage of planter opening.
